AC1: Informing Ideas
Who is the Client: The client are called Happy Foundation who try and make others smile and help those with stress and anxiety.
What is the name of the campaign: the campaign that they are trying to do is called smile campaign where as it states in the name they try and make others smile and during times like this it is key that they make sure they can actually achieve the goal.
what is the purpose of the company: Their main goal is make others less stressful and depressed during hard times and make others more happy. Happy Foundation is a charity that mainly covers others that are in dire need of help during times like these days such as lockdown or separation from partners.
What do they want from you: Happy foundation have asked you to promote their charity and make a video or edited photo to promote their charity and to help them out mostly and the people that need help with their problems. The video must be like an advert you see on the television and must have a time of 30-2mins maximum.
What Issues do you have to consider in regards to your client: The main Issues are finding the right people that will help in the campaign and to see those reaction to the adverts in order for them to support another issue would be funding the Advert and seeing how much production will cost.
Who is the targeted Audience: The Targeted Audience are people ages 16 and beyond as they are the main age groups as it proven in news articles that teens and adults are most vulnerable to depression and anxiety. Examples of what might be included in the causes of these age groups to be like this are things like Marriage, School, Work and Income. According to various amounts of websites the age group that is most affected is either 16+ or 18+, websites like NIMH confirm that young adults are the highest of cases of SMI that being 8.6% and people aged 16 have a 14.4% of cases but this means that both age groups are the main targeted audience for this cause as having mental health can lead to many things that not great for the persons body like Depression, Anxiety, Mood changes and dramatic changes in eating, drinking and sleeping. Mental health can cause very bad things such as crime which there are many arrests that happened in the UK due to mental illness. The chart here shows what crimes are most committed because of Mental Health.

Mental Health Advert interview: I asked a person in my family about their experience with mental health and what they expected in an advert about their problems and this is what they said: "I think that what the expectations should be is that to show that you are not alone when it comes to this type of illness as there always are others that can help you when you disparately need it. Another reason is that I don't want others or myself looking like the odd one out of everyone as well as knowing that it is ok to speak out about Mental health when talking about these adverts." This helped my research because of how i know the knowledge of how bad my family members mental health is and how it can affect others to, this is also like how other people respond to mental health and how they can watch these adverts to feel much better about their well being.
Social Grade:
Which Social Grade is related to this audience: The Audience that I have covered are on the A-D section as they are at that age and have the mutual descriptions and the percentages. The types of demographics are the types of characteristics of a human population such as age and income. The audience has the same descriptions because they either work or don't as their income could be something like a high management or a semi and unskilled manual worker, the main percentage is the C1 Supervisory, clerical and Junior managerial administrative or professional as more people are known to be junior workers which can have an aspect on their mental health and can cause the depression that some workers have.
WaterAid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uiy3dkTwPcQ
Wateraid: WaterAid is a charity that sells water to young children in africa as they dont have much water as other countries do. They produce adverts as well as other types of awareness spreading. The Codes and Conventions are somethings like it makes the audience sad that the scenes where the kid is going to collect water from a dirty hole is not very nice to look at and makes a sense of guilt which is the main purpose of the advert which shows how much the people who made the advert put work into it. The sign of the video was to teach the audience that they should donate to the charity. The habits of these ads are that they are always the same type of adverts where they show a narration plus short scenes of unhappy African children. This has helped me because this is similar to Smile Campaign as they try to make others happy when they are feeling down and are in need, the main point of similarity of these two charities are that they both will include adverts that include sadness but then will cut to a happy side of the advert and have a message at the end that will make others smile. How this has helped me is because that it shows me the types of codes and conventions this charity has like how the types of cinematography it has and what types of Camera angles are included such as Close up and High Angle. How this appeals to audience is because they make the audience feel sorry for the children in the advert as they want to give their money to the charity so they can help others and make them smile. The Mise en scene is that the main scenery is in an area where it has a dirty awareness and the water isn't the cleanest as it fits into the event of WaterAid where in Africa the area isn't the cleanest in some areas as the water is brown and mucky which the water can kill them if they drink the water and it could also give them diseases and that's why the charity want to help the people in the country and give them clean and fresh water. The music choice would normally be a sad tone as it gives the depressing vibe of the people have to live with in Africa which is normally fitting in these ads where they show a depressing song with narration in the background.
Place2Be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUd1sVxtZ0c
Place2be is a charity that helps young children with mental health so they don't have to suffer when they get older. They use their charity to spread around the area to both parents and teacher which shows how much they want to make a difference when trying to counter mental health. The main targeted audience is young children as this advert presents them speaking about place2be has helped them through their times in school and also the charity shows what they mainly look for when talking to young children like do they have someone close to them that passed, do they have parents that have split up or are getting abused. this helped me because these 2 adverts are similar because they want to reduce the mental health and how they want to make people smile, this also has similar awareness spreading such as posters and adverts. The codes and conventions of this advert is the main cinematography in this advert such as the jump cuts to each scene like for example how its an interview and then it cuts to a small compilation of clips of children playing which brings a smile to others faces. The types of camera angles go from close up to medium shot, other types of shots used are long shots and over the shoulder shots as it shows these types of camera angles in the advert. The Mise en scene for this is the school area as it takes place in a school area which fits the main aspect of the advert which is to help school children with mental health issues so it doesn't effect their work and their future. The music type of this video is a calm and cool type of tune as it sets a tone in the audience to hopefully get them to support the advert and the charity all together, there are some voice overs in this advert but it is also focused on the interviews of the people at the school area.
Psychographics: The examples are somethings like interests in things people like such as football or playing games, another example is peoples opinions like their opinions on films or politics but when it comes to making others smile, its like their favourite food or film to watch. Peoples actions or personality is another example of Psychographics as it studies a certain individuals attributes, meaning that its a study of what people are like during life whether its happy or sad. Behaviours are also looked into by this study as it covers what their actions normally are on a daily basis.
How do you know who the target audience is: The proven fact that ages 16 and beyond are the most known for cases like anxiety and depression as proven in websites such as healthline as they list facts and features about people with these type of issues and show other facts. Also in certain other websistes they describe that either peoples ages 16 and beyond also 18 and beyond as both display their own facts about these types of age groups.

Mental Health Charities:
Mind: Mind are a charity that are offering information and advice to people with mental health along with lobbies government problems as well as local authorities on their behalf. Mind works to raise public awareness and understanding issues regarding mental health. Regarding how they spread awareness, Mind are a charity that locate in England and Wales, they do their sessions either face to face or on mobile, But mostly online so that others can get a better notice and a better talk with their audience. Minds have a bunch of adverts on their charity that are displayed on YouTube there will be links.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_y97VF5UJcc
Place2be: Place2be is a charity where they are people who help young children with their mental health mostly with kids in primary school, this was a good choice to cover as i had something like this when i was in Primary school and i attended a session with a teacher and a lot was covered about mental health and other problems. How Place2be is spread awareness is that they are normally located in schools so any school kid that has these problems or should worry about these problems, posters are normally spread around the area so that could help their audience understand. Place2be has a lot of adverts displaying their cause and their main point of the charity.

Research:
The Articles found online were mostly about harmful times during covid and how it increases mental health and stress. They cover how it impacts the country and other places especially Sunderland which possibly have one the highest places with people with mental health issues and other problems. The data collected from this comes from either adverts or articles online which also cover the facts about how the virus has infected peoples mental health and most importantly depression.
There are many articles that help others cope with stress and even those websites or article include phone numbers which can be called to help others in need of help. Even google helps as it gives ways or links to things that can help those with issues with their mental health and depression. These types of websites gain a lot of attention gaining massive amount of support as it comes to dealing with stress. The websites like this is mostly sites like healthline and the NHS as they seem to be the most popular out of the others as the NHS is the Uks main hospital and man people have been praising the company as it shows how much some people care about others and they are here for you.
What i have learned from this is that those that have mental health issues are in dire need help and that multiple websites can aid them and help those that need help when things are really hard at times, this aids my production because it gives me an idea of what to include in it such as a sad introduction but then cuts to a happy and enjoyable bunch of scenes that are bound to make others smile and even make others laugh. The ideas that aided me when making my ad is that i took inspiration from making this ad is adverts like water aid as they were made to promote getting water to sad people in places like Africa this links to the smile campaign as they try to make others smile which helps me understand the main point of this charity and the work in general.
Smiling is very common to some people and those coping with issues and the social media sites as a lot of websites have ways to make people smile and many more options such as links to happy videos or having something you can do to make you smile. Examples of these websites are verywellmind and sclhealth which cover these topics. What i have also learned is that adverts can be used to help a certain type of charity to promote smiling and others which gave me the idea for the tv ad i made for the main source of this work.
AC2: Problem Solving
Rationale:
Who is target audience for your product: The targeted audience is people around the ages 16 and beyond as it is the most proved aged group that suffers the most with depression, anxiety and other types of things that affect the body. This product proves that these ages are at risk of these types of causes. Childhood Abuse, Trauma, Neglect, Stigma and experiencing discrimination.
What research can you present to justify who your audience is: the research i have done to prove this is that similar tv adverts have the same cause and hope to overcome these causes and make a difference. For example the video about depression Reading University Students Union covers depression and they show how it can affect others into becoming depressed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLAeT8BXG1w
Why is a print advert and TV advert a good idea for this campaign: A print advert or a TV advert is good for a campaign because it promotes the cause the person is trying to do and show the audience what will happen if they help out in the campaign. The print advert is an image that was edited to simply promote the campaign to show others that are outside or online that they see this print.
what have you learned from researching and analysing existing print adverts and Tv adverts: I have learned that adverts whether they are print or TV have the same potential to make a campaign more noticeable as the type of work produced can be beneficial to the campaign they are supporting. I have also learned that tv ads and print ads are very uneasy to make as it makes planning and production very great for the finishing production.
were there any codes and conventions you were going to follow or challenge for this campaign and why: The planes were to have the advert included outside and me filming scenes of a sunny day and maybe moments with a pet or a few friends. This will benefit me as when i film these scenes it will most likely be edited into a more happier part of the advert.
what are your ideas for the tv advert: The plan is to make a 1 minute or less video for the client so that their awareness can be spread and this advert will mostly consist of a slow and depressing side of the advert which will mostly have grey and black colours in but then a message pops up and then it goes all colourful along with a more enjoyable and happy music rather than a depressing and sad tone music. this advert will have many of small clips that are either filmed or are recorded on another platform or edited on a computer.
can you illustrate your ideas through flat planes (Sketches):
Why do you think this would be a successful print advert and is its USP: This print advert would be successful because of how it promotes the campaign as it shows what is included to make sure that it is doing the right thing for the campaign and what it includes to make people smile as well as how the audience will react to it when fully done and presented. The USP of this is that it compares to many other campaigns that raise awareness of these type of things like depression or anxiety which are the most common of causes in the UK and many others have tried to raise the awareness that some others are at risk.
How do you think your print advert idea is right for the client and their needs: The video shows the aspects of a sad start then cuts to a happy and joyful part as the point was to make people smile and it is displayed in this 1 min long video, the client will enjoy this because it shows everything they have asked us to do in a print advert or a TV advert, the right stuff is included in this video as it shows a message but then cuts to a very happy part and a nice message at the end that will make people feel better.
How will it appeal and attract the right audience: This video includes many clips of videos from franchises that people enjoy such as Pokémon and Transformers, including real life things like dogs and the beach. This will attract fans as it shows the happy and funny side of the video and it will include a nice message at the end and a slogan which is good for a promotional video about a campaign.
Rationale Feedback: The main feedback i have gotten about my idea was mainly about what would be included such as what footage would be in it depending on what the size of video would be and how long the clip was and how it benefitted me in what the video was about. The idea of seeing how much footage was going to be changed because of the lack of own footage used because of technical difficulties as there were a few problems from my devices and the issue of trying to transfer the footage used, the only option was to use clips online and get them together in the advert as it came out how it looked now. I feel like i am on the right track but there are some obstacles that need to be done and it hopefully should be done and maybe will be fully completed by the deadline.
How this mind map helped is that it showed me how i can include so many things in my advert like for example how the fonts can be different when putting text in the production of the editing alomg with what types of colours can be used whether they are primary, secondary or tertiary colours which shows the main point of a advert that tries to support those with mental health issues. the images were extremely helpful as it gave me the idea of using some images in my advert to show more complexity and to show also how well edited it was another reason why it was helpful was because of what specific things i can include in this advert such as Animals and Animation. The main layouts for this was a good point in helping me as it mainly told me what i could use to help my production better like how the images could be in different sizes like how the image can be medium or large and how it can be either portrait and landscape.
In the end after all this i decided my idea was going to inlcude colours which are both dark and light which could mean that i am planning something to do with how the dark is weaker than the light and show much light colours are included. The fonts will be normal Sans font as it just feels like the other fonts will be very wacky and weird, The main layout would be main large images put in different scenes along with a few medium ones in some clips. As for the images i decided to go with ones that are both happy and sad which will show how i will support the point where dark is strong against light and include more happy than sad images.
Production log/Diary:
2nd of November 2020: This was the beginning of the research of the as i began with the AC1 of this task, I began by exploring some questions like who the client is and other types like what the company wants from the people who are helping them and the main point of the charity that the people are making this advert or print screen. The targeted audience was covered as it was important to understand what the type of age groups are normally affected by mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
3rd of November 2020: I continued on with the AC1 and now this time I finished the main questions by completing the targeted audience by putting evidence of the age groups that are targeted for this charity and what are the ways in getting rid of or lowering mental health down so that the audience can smile and be happy about themselves, i even put a chart of what crimes are caused by mental health. After this i began working on the interview of a person who had experience with mental health and they explained how it effected them and they even gave me a list of things they would like to see in a mental health advert, i explained how this helped me when researching more into the mental health and how it could improve my research and possibly help me on the production of the advert I will be planning.
9th if November 2020: I began this day by starting with the Social Grade as i explained which of the targeted audience is the right grade and what percentage they are at. I also went over the demographics of the social grade and showed facts about it such as a persons characteristics when it comes to age and income along with talking about the descriptions of the targeted audience. After explaining the social grade i created an audience profile which shows the types of things that you would see on an audience profile such as gender, likes and dislikes, Psychographics, Demographics and more which is shown in a drawing which will be done by myself.
10th of November 2020: I started my research on the other charities that do the same thing as the smile campaign I went with two of them as I felt like that I put more research into some I began with WaterAid as I focused on the research of the charity and what its main focus is. I discussed why they are a thing and how they spread awareness like how they try and give fresh clean water to African children and others to help them be happy which was a good point for this as Smile Campaign and WaterAid both have the same goals, to make others happy. I also covered what type of camera angles and what the mise en scen was in the advert that I watched. The codes and conventions were also covered as I showed how the main point was how the audience reacted to the young boy was carrying the bucket to the dirty water hole as the audience would react with a sad expression or even an upsetting one. Next I talked about Place2be where I explained how it is a charity for young children in schools most common in primary schools, this aided my research as I used the reasons why the people at Place2be think young children are suffering with mental health as they could either be having troubles with family and many other reasons. This aided me in coming up with an idea with the advert or the print screen as the main facts were all there for me to write down and research more into the advert. The mise en scen and types of camera angles were covered as the same for the WaterAid advert but this time the camera angles were more closed up and displayed more of a focused on the interviews of the people in the video, the way Place2be spread their awareness is by making adverts online and going to primary schools and talking the children that have these types of problems and they try to make the audience partically parents of kids that attend primary schools to make sure that they don't end up with major mental health problems.
16th of November 2020: Today i did more research onto Psychographics and what my evidence to the targeted audience was, I began by explaining for the psychographics what is the main examples of Psychographics like peoples likes and their dislikes as for example a type of person could like football and then another person can dislike football, another example of how i proved this was a persons behaviour and personality as a way that a person acts can prove what they are like like for example they can have an angry tone that intimidates people or they could have a caring and joyful tone to make others happy. The way that i used my research to prove that the targeted audience is the age i chose that being 16-18+ is that i used various websites to show how a person in that particular age group can have a mental health issue along with many others depending on the percentage, the type of websites i used are displayed with links like for example Healthline and Buisnessinsider as they were examples that were most useful when doing this research to find proof.
17 of November 2020: Today I did some more research into mental health charities and displayed the links to the videos of adverts i watched online and gave a description on each. I started with Mind after some further research into individual mental health charities, Mind was the first option to pop up so i decided to research into that specific charity. The main description of the advert and the charity itself was a basic of what they do and how they spread their awareness to the audience, the examples of the awareness spreading was through adverts as they do both face to face and Online calls which is a good advantage for supporting those in need. Next i did Place2be which was already mention in my previous research which was an advantage for my research, i used their advert to define what they do for their awareness spreading and how they get the audience to support their goals, the example of this advert was they normally have their main people go to speak to them are young children who are normally in primary schools because they do not want young children having bad mental health as they grow up.
24th of November 2020: I began this day of work by doing more research into mental health in my local area, that being Sunderland. I began by researching articles about mental health and the types of articles i found were mostly about people during Covid-19 times and how it has effected their mental health dearly over the months of lockdown, I showed that Sunderland has the highest places in the UK that have people who have mental health problems and this was not proven but it has come to the attention of people that most people in Sunderland have problems with mental health. Next I talked about articles about coping with stress as I explained that the types of articles i found were somethings like how various websites can give a person that needs help a helping hand, I explained how websites like Healthline and The NHS can help people out if they need it which proves an advantage to the targeted audience of this charity, I mentioned how these websites get attention from the audience as that would be proven true that people seek help from these types of websites like the NHS who are currently helping massively along with the covid-19 situation.
25 of November 2020: I continued on with the research in todays work production, this time I began to explain how the ideas I have gotten and received will aid my production in the smile campaign as I was going to make an advert for my final piece in the work. i included what inspired me to make this ad like what things i should probably include in the making of this advert like the effects of the ad like a fade in and out type of effect and also how another type of charity has inspired me to make an advert like the people supporting their cause made the advert.
December 1st 2020: I now began working on the AC2 as I started working on who the targeted audience is by explaining how I learned about what the main targeted audiences age is as I explained how i think it is ages around 16-18+ and I also explained what causes are done by mental illness such as Childhood Abuse and Neglect. After completing that I missed on. How i justified the clients and their needs is by doing research into other adverts done by other people, I took a look at a mental health advert by Reading University as they did the same thing as other adverts well known.
2nd of December 2020: I started doing my evidence on why tv adverts are useful for awareness spreading and promotes the cause, it also aids them in spreading their goals to the audience in order to get more support. I have learned that when doing my research is that tv adverts can be very noticeable as they will most likely be spotted on the tv or on social media. But that means that these adverts will be very uneasy to make but it will prove greatly for production.
7th of December 2020: Today i worked on the codes and conventions about my production of the tv advert, i explained that some things needed to be in the advert with some of those things like myself filming outside and editing the clips of the video when being recorded. Next I explained what will be included in this advert and how long it is going to be like for example I said that normal adverts last around 1 minute or less and must have somethings in them like jump cuts and a message at the end. I showed that I will be editing this on a computer and will include effects like black and white background or have sad music to start off then cut to a more joyful and enjoyable bunch of clips.
8th of December 2020: Today I drew a picture of a storyboard of the process of myself filming as it was explained under the picture on what was been drawn. Each drawing was done in order of what happened during the filming of each part of the process until the end where i finished the drawings by including an editing drawing.
13th of December 2020: The work I did today was working on the USP as I covered that the Print advert or the tv advert would be a good promotion for the campaign as it shows the right content for the campaign to display to the audience. I also explained that the main point of the USP is that the charity can compare to the other existing charities and how they support most causes like depression and anxiety. Next I went over how the TV advert or the print advert appeals to the client as I explained how things should be in a tv advert such as a slogan and a message to the audience, I also explained how the client will enjoy the video that is being produced and how it will send a message to the audience.
14th of December 2020: This time i explained how the advert video will appeal to the audience and how I did that is I showed how the video starts and then how it progresses through the time like how it starts off slow and then moves onto a more happy side along with a few clips from either small videos or things from tv shows and I felt like this would appeal to the audience as I knew that some people might enjoy seeing things like Pokémon and partying.
7th of January 2021: Today I mainly focused on getting some unfinished work done by starting with an idea generator by doing this, I went on coggle to start this by putting in things that are normally noticed in advert videos such as Colour Scheme, Font, Images and Layout. For each of them, I put down the basic features of each component like with colour i used the main colours such as red, green, blue and Yellow etc, For the Layout I said somethings like portrait, landscape and mixed, For Font i went with things like Character, Chunky, Slab, Geometric etc and for Images i put down things like people, parties, animals and animation etc.
8th of January 2021: Today I did a risk assessment on my advert video giving the overall options for the risks and the details of the video that is being made. I explained that each of the hazards that could possibly affect the production of this advert can be prevented like how the trip hazards can be avoided by watching your step or something about the electric products can be prevented due to having a good practice in electricity products.
13th of January 2021: When finishing the risk assessment I started filling out the location scouting sheet. Marking down every detail down of every option such as where the locations were and how many scenes were being filmed at that location, for example for myself I filmed my scenes at my home because of how easy it was to access online features at my home.
14th of January 2021: On this day of production I made sure to make a list of all the equipment used and where to access them either in college or at home and most equipment were at home and were easy to access along with any other equipment that needed to be required. After that i went back over and focused some more research on the two adverts i produced by adding in extra information like the codes and conventions etc.
19th of January 2021: I finished the production and extra research and now I moved on the location release form as I did pretty much the same as the location scouting form except there was more things to be jotted down. this asked me to include things like my email so I put down my college email and the name of the smile campaign and what the main advert will be called when i start making the production. After i explained that and got that done I went back to update some previous work such as the social grade and the main questions like improving them with explanations of causes of mental health.
20th of January 2021: Today I modified my Survey to make sure there were no redo's along with showing my fellow classmates the survey so they could give their answers to me so i can record screenshots for my work and get an overall opinion on what the true things hat can make people smile and how it can benefit this charity when doing what the client requires.
25th of January 2021: After all the main work was done it was time to begin planning for the tv advert as i went through a bunch of ideas thought of about what will this advert, my first idea was with an outside video of people enjoying the fun outdoors, the other idea was to have animals running around as animals are a joyous thing to people and having an animal as a pet can raise a persons mental health. The final idea was to have a sad start to a video and to cut it to a happy and joyful ending with a nice message at the end of it.
26th of January 2021: After the planning continued I fully figured out what i was going to do for my advert and that was the option to make an advert that starts with a sad start that gives the client and audience a sad and unhappy reaction and then it cuts to a super happy and enjoyable ride through some clips from either outside or indoors or perhaps clips from online content. This will prove that these adverts will not be easy to make but it will be enjoyable to make along with getting inspiration from the previous charity adverts.
1st of February 2021: The first day of production began as I first started planning on how this Advert would work and what would be in the advert. I gathered research on what makes people happy and what relives stress. After all that I got some feedback by the audience of what they think is stress reliving and that feedback aided me quiet well when planning out this advert for the Charity. The next part of this planning is what I was going to do for this Advert as in what will be included, after gathering the research I decided to include these specific things, Animals, Partying, Running in a specific location, Hugging and more. How the audience feedback has reflected on this planning is that they gave me more of an idea of what to include in this advert and why these types of things should be included such as Animals and I got the feedback such as "Because Animals generally put a smile on peoples faces because they could do something funny or be cute at the same time" this helped as I knew now what to include in my Advert.
2nd of February 2021: Day two of production as now had begun filming as i included my own videos with recordings outside but due to technical difficulties I had to remove these videos as they did not seem to work on my device I was using to edit. So after all the hassle with the work and videos coming together i had to use clips online such as small clips on YouTube such as pets running and people running as well etc. I experimented these clips by putting them into a small testing video and then i had to remove some because they were either too long or too short, this process took some time but soon enough i had the clips sorted out and ready to be put together and edited. I then focused on explaining why smiling is common to others with bad mental health and I also covered how most adverts have focused on making their audience smile and how those adverts want to help those in need.
AC3: Technical Skill
3rd of February 2021: Day 3 was more of a technical side of the production as i experimented on Movavi editor plus 2021 which is an editing platform that i used for this and it was a great idea on using it as it provided many tools such as giving free music, effects and many more. This was helpful because i could add new ideas to the advert such as a fade in and out type of effect or something like a cut type of section as i was going to use an option where the a bit will start with a message but then cuts to a more brighter and colourful side and then ends with a message as the video ends. I felt like this was useful because it shows that the progress has come to good use along with the researches the video editing began.
The Reason why i chose this music is because of how it impacts the audience when the song was released as it seemed to make fans happy as well as make me happy when i listened to it a few times. i was thinking that it could make people feel happy as well when they are going through bad times, another reason why i chose this is because of the nice tone it makes you feel as it will be like you have a fun day while this music is in the background.
Some of the content used was taken from downloaded videos as some of the clips could not be used due to them either being blurry or there were some technical difficulties when making this advert. The content used was provided by YouTube and there part was played as it was those clips job to try and add an effect to the advert to either get a good laugh or maybe crack a smile on peoples faces as it shows that smiling can reduce mental health so that was the main part on why i used this specific content.
The main footage that was chosen was because of how much it would impact the audience in the way of reaction like how they would react to a sad start then how it would jump to more happy and enjoyable bunch of clips which will give the audience and the client a surprise once they are continuing the watch of this advert. I included some things such as animals, partying and animation because i felt like these would connect to audience and make them feel happy to get rid of the unhappy things such as mental health and depression, The links of some of these videos will be displayed below to show where i got them from and give people a good idea of why i included these videos.

How I edited the video is with the editing platform Movavi and i used it to make my advert and the rest of my edits. How i inserted the clips was downloading them online and clicking the add files section on the top on Movavi and select the file or clip and drag it into the section you want to have it in and this pretty much goes for every clip in my advert and next we go onto the selection of the clips and resize, how i edited them was by clicking on the clip and dragging it inwards or outwards depending on the size of the video, for the music i selected the music i wanted and inserted it like i did with the rest of the clips and re sized it to make sure it was on the right scale as the advert itself. for the animated clips of the video go to the section where it has the two Ts and select the clip you wanted and drag them into the parts where you want to have them in.

The edit of the clips all together.
The sounds of the clips/music used in the video.
The Selected music and what the file name is.
AC4: Professional Practice
4th of February 2021: Day 4 of production was the continuation of editing as this day took the longest to complete as i was scouting the internet for the perfect song for this video as this took awhile to do but then i finally found the right song and this was Its always a good time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepson as this song was proven to be very catchy and cool for this advert as well as the effect of making people smile, the feedback received by the music was fairly positive and a quote from one was like "I like the choice of music, it gives off the happiness vibe and it surely will put a smile on peoples faces" another sort of feedback was shown as well as a screenshot will be shown.

This feedback proved helpful as it proved that i was on the right track and i was using the right music, so i decided to include this music in the video but I also decided that i need to cut some clips of the song off because it would make the advert too long and it would drag as well so i listened to the entire song to decide which parts would be included in this Advert and then after listening to the song i decide the parts which were the first start and the first chorus as they were the perfect parts that should be in my Advert as they had the appropriate time and were fitting themes while the scenes continued.
5th of February 2021: Final Day of production as this was the finalizing the advert to see if it was at its fully done and had the accurate time in as well, Movavi was the perfect platform for editing as it had all the effects i needed as the video included a dark and gloomy intro and then it cut to a happy and joyful part with a bunch of scenes that were gathered from the internet due to the videos recorded in real life were having issues with cooperating with my device which wasn't great for the work and probably not good for the marking, This Platform included an effect where it slowly fades into the other scene this is a similar effect on PowerPoint as it normally is included in a slideshow. The audience feedback was a big help and some comments from the audience was useful like someone saying "Happy videos are a big help in adverts seen on the Television as they are included to add effect" This was useful as I used happy videos in my advert to add an effect to the whole thing. The editing took some to do as it took a total of 48 Hours to do which is a normal time for an editor to do or it could be more, this advert was a tough video to edit as i had to find clips, music and effects to help me in completing this Advert. I did a lot of experimenting such as using different effects and more such as fonts, different colours, layouts and designs such as a slogan at the end of the video, more experimentations were somethings like different types of slogans as i had a number of ideas of what to include in this advert for the ending message and the slogans were, "We are here for you", "Happiness comes from within", "Smiling makes it better" and "Happy faces, Happy times" after a few moments of deciding i went with "We are here for you" Because it shows more of a positive message as it is a true statement as when you feeling down you know that someone is there for you. Finally I think I was going on the right track as i included pretty much everything i needed to include and to finish it off i uploaded the video to YouTube as it was fully done and editing thanks to Movavi which was very beneficial and has been useful to many other creators, this helped me get back on track because i had confidence that this video would be good and as it uploaded I got some feedback as it was mostly positive and most of it was constructive criticism about what needed to be changed as i will apply screenshots. Overall this was very enjoyable to film and i hope to do more in the future.
10th of February 2021: after the video was produced and uploaded it to YouTube, I worked on an analysis of the advert because it shows how much research I put into both the production and the main research of analysis. I began with explaining the slogan of the production as I made sure to detail my explanation because I needed to let the client know every detail I included in this analysis so it was clear enough. I stated that I used cinematography in my advert showing that I used small clips with connections that will make a certain person smile, I also explained a downside that being some of the clips maybe on the blurry side of things along with being not well edited enough. Other things that were shown in this analysis were frames as I explained that they were smooth as the video went on along with what colours I used which were regular colours such as bright colours for the happy side and a black and white along with grey for start of the advert. I also explained how these colours have somethings to do with emotion as I showed how the bright colours show happiness and how the black and grey show sadness. The last thing explained was the analysis was the the language which was obvious that the language was English but subtitles were optional for the audience.
11th of February 2021: Today I focused on talking about the fonts of the advert when editing it. I explained how the fonts used in advert were normal Sans fonts as displayed on my advert, I used these because they were basic for this advert because the advert produced was pretty basic due to the edit of clips. I talked about the colour scheme next as I said somethings like how the start where it was all black and white that it brought a depressing and sad feeling but then it cut too a much brighter and colourful side which brings a brighter side to emotions. The overall layout of the advert was to have clips of happy moments outside in live action, but unfortunately I had to replace them with clips online due to technical difficulties but i didn't let that stop the main layout so I included happy clips in the advert, I also explained the main tagline for this ad for an idea of a smiling face with a circle around it along possibly a mascot and how that can spread awareness, after explaining that I had screenshots of the work below to show proof of my work.
12th of February 2021: This day of work was focused on reflecting the stages of my work. I began by showing how I developed skills during the production most of the development was the editing as I was using a brand new editing software with a little bit of knowledge so this was a major boost in my work and my productivity, I also showed how this project was difficult on some occasions but in the end I got it finished and how I had access to many videos online which would me in finishing this production, i also said how this would bring an enjoyment and happiness to myself so this was a good thing to do for the production.
17th of February 2021: With continuing on with the reflecting on work I explained already existing work helped in the making of this advert as I explained how the editing process of existing tv adverts helped me to get ideas from the adverts, what was also shown and analysed was that criticism was involved and also the additional research to give me an idea on what makes people smile and it gets rid of the depression and the anxiety. After that I moved onto talking about the final product and how it was good that relooking at old work aided me into getting a better idea of the main idea of the advert that was being produced, but I did explain that some work needed to be changed before beginning the production. I gave an explanation on why I chose the idea of a tv advert as I stated that I didn't want to make it too long other than 2 mins or less as it would be too long to finish and edit, next I talked about the audience feedback and how it helped me get through the research and the write up. I showed that i took every bit of criticism I received along with a response to that criticism like how I explained how due to technical difficulties i could not use the real life footage along with how the editing was. The good side of the criticism was the audience giving their positive thoughts on the advert like how they enjoyed the music and how the pacing of the advert was.
18th of February 2021: Today was the day i showed how experimented on things when i was doing the production of this advert as I used Movavi editor plus 2021 to put in some editing and some effects into my advert. I talked about how i shortened the clips by using my keypad and mouse to shorten them down to appropriate size along with how the volume was. I also talked about the main music that was played over the happy side of the video and that Its Always a Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepson and I gave an explanation on why i chose that song for the main production of the advert along with the main slogan "We are here for you" as it was decided by a few more ideas along with it which shows the message to the audience while i showed screenshots of the editing.
23rd of February: After the reflecting of stages I began my Evaluation of the entire advert which started with me showing how developed my skills on movavi by simply explaining what happened during the recording and what I learnt. Next i talked about the main elements of this was understanding as i explained that the overall understanding of the task was to make a tv advert about a charity that promotes smiling and the advert must have the specific requirements. I stated that my advert would start by tricking the audience into thinking it was going to be a sad advert when really it jumps to a more positive and happy side of the advert which should bring a smile to the faces of the audience. Next I explained how feedback is a key feature in production while i showed my side of how Feedback helped generate more skills than i thought i could do when doing this advert.
24th of February 2021: Next was the part where I explained how I met the brief and what my reason was. I explained how I met the brief by showing how much research I did and what was put into the production along with explaining what the requirements are for the production and how I know that they met the brief. The original brief was met by my work as explained that my work was proved beneficial for the production and how it made my final piece completed. I made sure I included what should've been improved and that was mainly the main footage of the recorded because it wasn't live action like some other adverts and that was the main criticism.
29th of February 2021: This was the final day of the production of the evaluation as I talked about on this day about how the cause of lockdown and such were not stopping me from learning about editing and I also explained how good and useful Movavi was and how it was the best editing software i installed when struggling to find the right platform. Next was the focus on what I've learned through this work and it could get me into work in the future as with something to do with the editing along with what research can do to the work that is being produced and how beneficial it can be when making a production. The final part was getting overall opinion on my work as it was mostly positive and there was criticism in this and to put into quotations “I enjoyed this a lot as it included somethings that made me smile and laugh such as the dogs and the overall partying scenes. What I think needs to be improved is the main source of editing as I thought the music included was just cut off at the end and makes it harder to notice it end properly. What I think needs to be changed also is the choice of videos included as some of them were either blurry or a little too much to be happy for what I think should be included is somethings like tv shows clips or clips of things people enjoy more like football or more animals and that might grab more attention to the audience.” After receiving this it gave me a confidence boost when next time I make my own films as it gives me many options to explore during production.

My production has a slogan displayed on ending as it displays the clients name and a little message on the bottom which was “we are here for you” which shows how I included this to make people smile which is the main plot of Happy foundation. The fonts were normal during the introductions of the texts as I thought they would fit into the ad well enough. The Cinematography used were from clips from various small videos that display either close in action or far out as either the people are doing something as which makes the camera move outwards or inwards. The Frames were shown to be quite smooth as they display what clip they were brought from in a particular video that was chosen, some were a bit blurry, but they were noticeable to see in the small video. The writing was planned by myself as I wrote down what I should include and what I should put into the film.
The uses of colour I used were shown in the clips a sit started connoting depression through the use of black and white as then cut to flashing light and colours which shows emotion in them like happiness, joyfulness and other positive emotions. The overall layout was multiple shots changing as it was supposed to show multiple happy videos in a few minutes and it shows either small clips or slightly longer ones that show happy things along with the sad moments at the start.
The Language used was more of descriptive one as it implied facts and features about depression and other emotions as it looks like it starts sad but then slowly starts becoming more happier as it then displays a happy message with a slogan as displayed at the end. The communication to the audience is shown as the video is playing as the text comes up and shows what the video that was made tells the audience.
The types of fonts used were Sans type fonts as they seemed like the normal version of the text in the editing software and the sans type font was used in the video for the most part as it was then cut to clips of the short videos. The colour scheme seemed a dark at the start and the was cut to more brighter colours which show the main aspect of the video that being a sad start then cutting to a happy ending along with a few clips of happy people or things that make people happy. Images included were short videos of things such as dogs and people running in a happy tone this shows how much research was done as i looked over what makes people happy and what puts a smile on their faces. The main layout or plan for the video was to have clips of happy things such as outside things and other videos but due to technical difficulties I had to cut to using videos online which would fit the main theme of the Smile Campaign. An idea for tagline was produced as it would include a smiley face along with a logo with the name on the charity on the front and maybe a mascot or something that might fit into the main theme of the charity as most of them have a mascot and people like seeing mascots in their charity and it could be a benefit to spreading awareness.

During this coursework I have developed more skills than I thought I had as with the editing and the choice of design for my project especially with the music. What has also aided me in the making of the project is the main resources that were there to help me in making this as I had a lot to choose from to complete this work. This Project has been difficult one to make but it was easily finished when I had access to many videos which included small videos and music which provided great effects and sounds brought out the happiness in me.
Existing work had also been very helpful to give me an idea of what to make for this project or what to include in it, the planning was set, and it worked out how I thought it would as in what editing type to use on it so it looked like a proper Tv advert you would see on the television. Feedback was useful because it gave me an additional number of ideas for what might happen in my film as well as criticism in what needs to be changed or what needs to be included. When looking at previous work the research done was the most beneficial as it introduced me to what type of things make others smile and happy to rid their depression and anxiety.
The final product was mostly finished due to the research and relooking at old work to get an idea to finally get a better idea on what to do, Other types of help and usefulness that proved greatly was the feedback giving by others as it showed that I had mostly good ideas, but some needed to be changed to work with what was being tasked when making this final project. The reason for my choices in this project were to find the correct videos to include in my advert as I chose carefully as I didn’t want to make the advert too long as it had to be the correct length in order to be right as in either 2mins or less as in tv adverts. The audience feedback received was useful for this project because of the ideas given that could possibly affect this work along with the improvements that could develop my skills, what was also received was criticism about what should be the changes in my project such as the types of footage used like reshooting using real life footage but due to technical difficulties that wasn’t possible but most feedback was positive as the audience enjoyed the project because of the music, the footage involved and the slogans which were commented on by the audience. This feedback helped in my final product because of the ideas and criticism received as this was beneficial because some ideas, I got were included such as using animals along with happy video, this also helped as it proved I was on the right track when doing this project, the types of comments I received were these types of comments, “I enjoyed seeing this work. The things that should be changed is the editing as it can get a bit weird at times like the ending of the advert as the music just cuts off or the choices of footage as some may think “How does this make others smile” other than that terrific progress” This feedback was positive and fair criticism as it gave me more of an idea on this work.
I experimented a lot when making this advert as I used a lot of features in Movavi such as the effects with the changing the footage like including a shade in effect that changes the scene with another or swapping into the next scene, the other effects used mostly was the cutting tool as this will give you access to shrink scenes to fit the video. This was useful because of how it was easy to use as it was used to cut footage was proven too long for the video as all you needed to do was use the mouse or keypad and move it outwards or inwards to make it what size the user wants it to be. The music was experimented because it took a while to include but after a long time of research, I decided to go with Owl City and Carly Rae Jepson: It's always a good time, this music fitted in well because of how it made people smile as it was highly reviewed online by viewers and how it helped them get through tough time back then. What was also experimented was the Slogan to this Advert as it took a few tries to fully figure out what will be the titling slogan for this advert and I came up with these exact slogans, “We are here for you”, “Happiness comes from within”, “Smiling makes things better” and “Happy faces, happy times.” After a bit of planning, I decided to go with we are here for you because it sends out the positive vibes along with sending a message to those who are affected by mental health issues and tells them that they are not alone.

Evaluate your overall performance.
I have developed my skills by learning the ways of editing on Movavi as using movavi was the main source and best working platform I could work with when making this advert at home. The knowledge of research that was done proved very useful when completing this work as it benefitted me a lot during the times of pre-production and making of this project.
The improvements of elements were the understanding of the work as well as knowing on how to make productions, the understanding of the main theme of the project was that to make a tv advert or a print screen of a charity advert known as Happy Foundation as they try to make others feel more better during hard times like now. The plot and setting of the film were to try make others smile and feel better when watching a video as for example starting sad to trick the audience into thinking that it will be a sad video and then it cuts to a more happy and enjoyable type of video as it comes with a message at the end.
Feedback is a key feature when making a project as it gets you to either improve your project or make more like it, the feedback I have received has been good enough to have me continue to move on and improve on my project which is what I did and how I managed to complete it as it supported me and helped me to improve my skills to finish the final project for the coursework. The changes of the film were important as I received feedback from others about what was important about my work and what needed to be changed to make it better.
I feel like I have met the brief because of how much I have investigated and researched into this project and what needed to be included and what needed to be added as either background messages or extra research to be added. The film that was made was met by the brief because it meets all its requirements and what was asked to be done and what needed to be completed as my advert covers the true emotion of smiling as it includes happy clips that are sure to put a smile on the audiences faces when this will be played.
I think I would have come very close to meeting the original brief as I have covered practically everything that has been asked or required about it. My initial ideas were proved beneficial as along with the research it made my final project a successful completion and is what made me feel more confident In making films and it makes myself want to make more to see how much I have improved in editing skills.
What could have been improved was the inclusion of actual footage taken from a camera which possibly made things easier and probably have the recording in a different location if it weren't for lockdown and such but I went with what I had and I could make improvements in the future and possibly some changes that may make my work even better.
Although with lockdown and such there wasn’t really any problem in making this film as with Movavi, it was the best platform for editing that I possibly have ever installed and so there no problems in making the film in general but there was an issue with finding the right clips to include in the film for a bit but after watching a few things I used them to be included in my advert so that it was much easier than re-enacting the scenes myself and that is how I overcame that problem.
What I have learned is that editing can be very fun to learn and useful for future things like getting a job or making videos for your liking and what might be in store for future editing. What I have also learned is that the research that has been done can be very useful for future research as well as what to visit for certain asks or needs. If I were able to be given a potential second opportunity as I would have included more and more research as well improving the planning and the production of film making but that will hopefully be soon as hoping lockdown will is when I will possibly start to improve more on my work and projects.
Share your Final Design with friends, classmates and family: When this design was completed and fully done, I got some feedback from a family member as they seemed to enjoy what I produced but along with that there was some criticism was mentioned and they said this. “I enjoyed this a lot as it included somethings that made me smile and laugh such as the dogs and the overall partying scenes. What I think needs to be improved is the main source of editing as I thought the music included was just cut off at the end and makes it harder to notice it end properly. What I think needs to be changed also is the choice of videos included as some of them were either blurry or a little too much to be happy for what I think should be included is somethings like tv shows clips or clips of things people enjoy more like football or more animals and that might grab more attention to the audience.”
